LESSONS

Learning to play the drums should feel exciting, supportive, and fun—especially at the beginning. My beginner drum lessons are designed for students of all ages who are brand new to the instrument or just getting started.
We begin with the fundamentals: how to sit properly at the kit, hold the sticks, and understand basic rhythm and notation. From there, we build a strong foundation in timing, groove, coordination, and technique, ensuring you develop good habits from day one.
I take a patient, encouraging approach and tailor each lesson to the student’s pace and goals. Whether you want to play along to your favorite songs, prepare for band class, or simply explore music for the first time, lessons are structured to keep learning engaging and confidence-building.
Beginner lessons focus on:
Proper grip, posture, and setup
Basic rhythm reading and counting
Developing steady time and feel
Fundamental beats and grooves
Dynamics and listening skills
Playing with music and in band-style settings
No prior experience is required—just curiosity and a willingness to learn. My goal is to help beginners feel comfortable behind the drum kit, develop solid fundamentals, and enjoy the process of making music.

These lessons are designed for drummers who have a solid foundation and are ready to refine their skills, expand their musical vocabulary, and perform with greater confidence and control. Whether you’re playing in bands, preparing for gigs, or looking to break through a plateau, lessons are customized to help you reach the next level.
At the intermediate and advanced stages, we focus on precision, consistency, musicality, and versatility. Lessons are tailored to your goals—whether that’s improving groove and feel, strengthening technique, mastering complex rhythms, or developing your own sound behind the kit.
With decades of playing and teaching experience, I help students deepen their understanding of time, dynamics, and interaction within a band. We work on playing with intention—supporting the music, locking in with other musicians, and delivering a solid, professional performance in any style.
Intermediate to Advanced lessons may include:
Advanced stick control, hand and foot independence
Time feel, subdivision, and tempo control
Groove development across multiple styles
Dynamics, articulation, and musical phrasing
